Walk to Work

Walking is an ideal form of commuting to and from work. Highest potential is with employees who live within two miles of the worksite.

Benefits to Your Employer:

  • Improved employee health and well being

  • Reduced need for parking

  • Reduced stress in the work place

Benefits to employees:

  • An opportunity to get in shape while commuting

  • Reduced commute cost

  • Improves their overall attitude and morale

Benefits to the community:

  • Improve air quality

  • Reduced fuel consumption and highway congestion


Walkers should always take safety precautions such as: crossing with the lights, watch for moving vehicles, and walk against the oncoming traffic where there are no sidewalks. (You don't need me to tell you to look both ways do you?)

Walkers should have a pair of shoes for walking other than their office shoes. Most business dress shoes are not good for walking very far or on unpaved paths.

When walking in traffic areas with particularly bad visibility (such as after dark in the rain) carry a bicycle strobe light
